Unit 8 Discussion: The Multi-Generational Workplace

Unit 8 Discussion: The Multi-Generational Workplace

ALEASE’S POST:
My generation is Millennials. After watching the video and learning the characteristics of my generation I completely understand why I always wanted to be a business owner. I never considered myself lazy or don’t like being told what to do, but it is more of being able to have flexibility in the workplace. I think that’s why many times when I was at job it could be hard to communicate with older generations because we look at things differently. I feel these two videos perception of characteristics of generations in the workplace are head on. I see many if the same characteristics in the actor who played my generation as well as the actor who played other generations and people I know of those generations. The woman in the first presentation made a good point, that if we all just remember that we are all just people it would help us communicate better. I think a good way too also communicate better is to try and find something you have in common with your co-worker and build off that, and just use the skills you have to bring to the table and you should thrive in the workplace no matter what generation you are.
JEFFREY’S POST:
I find that a workplace is a fantastic atmosphere to be introduced to a wide array of generational inhabitants in society. I have worked among them all and together in the same workplace more often than not. It creates opportunities to learn more about the human experience and I have always found that to be extremely important. I find there are levels of pride among the different generations as well and the work ethic also is quite interesting to observe. I enjoy communicating with people of all ages so being in the work environment with so many different generations of people creates moments of real dialogue. The most obvious things are what we find in common among us and how we look at work more as a way to support ourselves and our families than anything else. The common bond is money and that we all need it regardless of how we spend it.
I approach work more as a traditionalist but I am a Generation X’er by birth date. I have a traditional sense of how I believe hard work is an identity I want to feel attached to and have others see that is how I get things done. The work ethic is very strong among the older generations and it never ceases to amaze me how hard and long they have been at it. I get a strong sense of how the country was built by interacting with the brothers and sisters from the older generations. I work at communicating to learn more about where people come from and their dreams, and aspirations, as well as their past victories and defeats. My communication skills are strong and I constantly work on them in workplace situations. I enjoy working with all generations and learning something from all of them.

ANTHONY’S POST:
Hello Everyone,
Disney+ uses product differentiation as its generic strategy for competitive advantage. Appealing price is one way it plans to differentiate itself. I have already taken advantage of prescribing the Disney+ app for streaming movies at $6.99 a month for a prescription. Disney+ is not just for the children, I am enjoying it as well. They have some of the best family movies ever made. Another way is they allow you to download content that you can watch anywhere when you are not on the WI Fi. Also, they allow subscribers to stream context on four devices at the same time at no extra cost.
Disney+ has a unique contract that cannot be licensed or distributed by other media networks. The strength and exclusive of this content allows Disney+ to generate profit above other competitors through advertising and affiliate fees.
Anthony.

DARREN’S POST:
Disney should use live video streams, from customers, to show the customers enjoying one of Disney’s theme parks. They should also use pre recorded adds that entertain people, while showcasing Disney franchises. Disney should use its own streaming service to advertise Disney’s nostalgic movie references found in their theme parks and exclusive content found only at Disney franchise’s. Disney should also use social media, like facebook, instagram and twitter, to run promotions customers can only get at Disney theme parks.
To stand out from competitors Disney should use their humble beginnings to relate to every day families and their values of tradition. Walt Disney was a man of modest beginnings, with a dream. Disney should expand on his vision and set itself apart by offering family rates to customers and family oriented activities when they are at the theme park. Giving an individual touch only Disney could offer. Using public relations to express the companies concern for value and quality of goods for families. Catering to children and parents by using Disney characters, at their theme parks, that you can only interact with at a Disney theme park. Finally concentrating on a price point that appeals to all ranges of income families.

HANNAH’S POST:
Hello Everyone
Netflix and Amazon are Disney’s main competitors in the streaming service space. In order for Disney to differentiate itself and all, its franchisees from competing rivals in the marketplace it to highlight the business message, values, and story for all audiences to see. Branded content is the practice of marketing via the creation of content that is funded or outright produced by an advertiser. Branded content is a message that resonates with your target audience. It generates a conversation and an emotional response. People remember how you make them feel, so your branded content needs to leave them feeling happy, intrigued and energized to take action. Branded content is an experience. All of this would keep Disney from competing with rivals in the marketplace.
The marketing trend that I would recommend is Nostalgic marketing because it is about connecting your brand with positive concepts or is ideal from the past. The goal is to associate your brand with the feeling of comfort and security that are triggered by those ideas. Additionally, as was the video she said that when Covid – 19 came it was a perfect time for families to get together social distance, and watch movies of the past. We should not do away with past movies, music, and games because without the past the presence would not be here, and forget about the future. Businesses are still making millions of past experiences. With Nostalgic marketing, I believe this would be a trend that Disney can use to stay ahead of the competition.

VANESSA’S POST:
First let’s just say Disney stands out on its own. The Walt Disney Company uniqueness of their products which offered in the entertainment, mass media, and amusement park industries. I believe that we as a team can use to market Disney is to use the differentiation generic competitive strategy to successfully introduce the company’s products into new markets. The Disney company product differentiation as its generic strategy for competitive advantage.
One of the best digital and social media that can assist would be commercials advertising on Tv and radios, using Facebook, twitter and IG can help to stay ahead of the competition. Social media is increasing with digital marketing, appearing in all. Its best to always keep up to date with social media since its always changing, and what works now might no longer be effective later on.
