ADDING MEDIA AND SPECIAL EFFECTS TO A PRESENTATION
Open the file NP_PPT16_2a_FirstLastName_1.pptx, available for download from the SAM website.
Save the file as NP_PPT16_2a_FirstLastName_2.pptx by changing the “1” to a “2”.
0. If you do not see the .pptx file extension in the Save As dialog box, do not type it. The program will add the file extension for you automatically.
To complete this Project, you will also need to download and save the following support files from the SAM website:
With the file NP_PPT16_2a_FirstLastName_2.pptx still open, ensure that your first and last name is displayed in the presenter notes on Slide 1.
· If the presenter notes do not display your name, delete the file and download a new copy from the SAM website.
You are developing a presentation for people interested in opening an Avid Vintage franchise furniture store. Start by applying the custom theme from the file Support_NP_PPT16_2a_Avid.pptx, available for download from the SAM website, to all slides in the presentation.
Insert a footer as follows:
a. Include the date and time set to update automatically.
b. Enter the following footer text:
c. Display the footer on all slides except the title slide. (Hint: Use the Don’t show on title slide check box in the Header & Footer dialog box.)
On Slide 2 (“All About Avid Vintage”), use the content placeholder on the right to insert the picture Support_NP_PPT16_2a_Furniture.png, available for download from the SAM website.
With Slide 2 still displaying, add an animation to the bulleted list as follows:
d. Apply the Float In Entrance animation to the bulleted list.
e. Change the direction of the animation to Float Down.
On Slide 3 (“Competitive Advantages”), insert and format a shape as follows:
f. To the right of the bulleted list, insert a Teardrop shape from the Basic Shapes section of the Shapes gallery.
g. Resize the shape to a height of 2.25″ and a width of 2.25″.
h. Add the text In-home consulting for local customers to the shape.
i. Flip the shape horizontally.
j. Apply the Subtle Effect – Teal, Accent 1 style.
k. Use Smart Guides to align the top of the shape with the top of the bulleted list and the right side of the shape with the right side of the picture, as shown in Figure 1 below.
Figure 1: Aligning the Shape on Slide 3
With Slide 3 still displaying, apply the picture style Reflected Rounded Rectangle to the picture of the furniture.
On Slide 4 (“Curators”), modify the circle shape to the right of the “We are here” arrow shape as follows:
l. Change the fill of the circle to Light Yellow, Background 2, Darker 25% (3rd column, 3rd row of the Theme Colors palette).
m. Change the weight of the circle’s outline to 1½ pt.
With Slide 4 still displaying, modify animations as follows:
n. Remove the animation from the picture of the map.
o. Apply the Pulse Emphasis animation to the “New England” callout shape.
p. Change the Start setting of the Pulse animation to After Previous.
q. Use the Animation Painter to copy the animation from the “New England” callout shape to each of the following shapes:
· “New York City” callout shape
· “Chicago, IL” callout shape
· “Palm Springs, CA” callout shape
· “We are here” arrow shape
r. Increase the duration of the animation on the “We are here” arrow shape to 1.00 to further emphasize the shape.
On Slide 5 (“Featured Furnishings”), insert a trademark symbol (™) immediately after “Jarvi” in the “Jarvi chairs” text.
On Slide 6 (“Specialty Items”), use the content placeholder on the right to insert the video Support_NP_PPT16_2a_Video.mp4, available for download from the SAM website.
With Slide 6 still displaying, set playback options for the inserted video as follows:
s. Set the video to start automatically.
t. Set the video to rewind after playing.
u. Change the volume to Low.
On Slide 7 (“Marketing Successes”), use the content placeholder to insert a table with two columns and four rows, and then enter the data shown in Table 1 below.
Table 1: Marketing Successes Table Data
On Slide 8 (“Sales Forecast”), modify and format the table as follows:
v. Apply the style Medium Style 2 – Accent 1 to the table.
w. Resize the height of row 1 to 0.6″.
x. Add a fifth row to the bottom of the table containing the totals for Year 1 and Year 5, as shown in Table 2 below.
Table 2: New Row of Data
On Slide 9 (“Interested in a Franchise?”), apply the picture style Snip Diagonal Corner, White to the picture of the telephone.
Apply the Reveal transition from the Subtle section of the Transition gallery to all slides in the presentation.
On Slide 9 only, modify the transition as follows:
y. Apply the Rotate transition from the Dynamic Content section of the Transition gallery.
z. Change the transition effect so it plays From Left.
aa. Change the duration of the transition to 1.25.
In Slide Sorter view, your presentation should look like the Final Figure on the following page. Save your changes, close the presentation, and exit PowerPoint. Follow the directions on the SAM website to submit your completed project.
